I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS FICC AAGHH (SPOILERS BTW) i genuinely think this is one of my favorite fics of all time,,, I just really admire how fleshed out the characters areee (just thinking about how much scar has changed since like the beginning), just the plot in general is so interesting to me, and I’ll be honest this fic is the reason I checked out YHS lmfao, something about it just really hooked me in from the beginning! I love how it all ties so nicely together like with the lesson at the end being that pretending that everything is fine won’t give you the chance to move on and be happy,, down to the hermits being sheltered and not acknowledeging any kind of negativity to sams whole childlike perspective on things and making everyone pretend along side him like a mad man,, i love it so much

There was something in the void around his server.
Xisuma first saw it when he was doing minor patches to Hermitcraft. Gem had mentioned a PVP bug – her sword would pause mid-swing and it’d been the cause of more than a few deaths – and Impulse told him something was going on with his redstone. X had found the breaches in the firewall pretty quickly, and the bugs scuttling through the holes were small and easy to squash.
But the thing drifting through the void was big and faintly Player shaped.

This is a collection of short stories that happened years before the canon events in "The Whole Being Dead Thing: Except I'm not" the work before this one. It would probably be good to have that knowledge before entering this fic, but it isn't needed if you really aren't into horror.

Zed probably should’ve realized it was a patently terrible idea to build his base in an enormous hole that wasn’t completely flooded with water at the bottom.
He figured it'd be fine. He had been careful enough with the waterfalls, and besides, he had an elytra by now, so where was the risk in falling?
Just his luck, the one day he was too lazy to swing by the rocket shop is the same day he takes his approach too fast.
At least the other two resident hole-dwelling hermits are both checking their comms.
And you know? It's really a shame it took him falling into his base and breaking his leg for the three of them to finally put aside their busy schedules and get together.
In a way, it's just like them.(Whumptober 2023: 5 - "It's broken")

Summary
Grian is sick and he wants people around him, but he doesn't want to ask, that would be weird right?
Luckily there is a hermitcraft meeting today, Grian knows that he's too sick to go but goes anyway. At the meeting people quickly notice that something is wrong and they bring Grian home.
Once they get there Grian keeps making excuses so that his friends stay, but his friends teach him that he doesn't need to make any excuses. They want to stay with him.

Grian had been watching the little island grow slowly but surely. He'd seen the ragtag group of misfits and outcasts patching each other's wounds and carrying each other to beds.
Meanwhile, he was here. In a dark room, with the hissing echo of their voices all around, that they'd finally take what was due to them, even if they hadn't upheld their end of the deal. It wasn't like Grian could argue, even if he tried, they could cause him pain merely with the thought of it. So he'd watch, instead, watch his friends amongst countless other worlds, all of which he had to keep tabs on or risk the punishment. The lessons were exhausting, and the Watchers were tireless. Grian was tired, though, because he wasn't a Watcher...not yet.
{In which Grian is stubborn to a fault, Xisuma puts in the extra hours, Pearl just wants her brother back, and watching a world grow is nothing like being within it.}

Summary
A compilation of my Hermit-Circus AU! Where every Hermit has a part and role. The story is a combination of fluff and angst, all involving fun circus events. The Greatest will always remain the first story in this series, as it started this whole thing and is technically the introduction for everyone. Everything else is semi-chronological. A lot of the other one-shots can easily be read as standalone (i believe? Though context does improve the reading experience for this). Written in both past tense (for all backstories/way they joined except Mumbo's) and present tense.
This is a wonderful circus! We have twin trapeze artists, a fortuneteller, stilt walkers, an aerialist and more! As for which Hermit is which (and trust me, they all get a special, silly role), only the stories will tell.
Ships are primarily familial and platonic, and at the moment that will not change. This segment will be updated if this does change to tell what romantic ships can be seen.

The Life Series is always erased after the end of the season. Including everything inside them. Scar gets stuck in Secret Life for months on end before finally escaping and finding the new Hermitcraft server. When he returns nobody remembers who he is. To Scar this may be a worser hell than Secret Life ever was.
Will they ever remember him again? Or will Scar have to adapt to his new life being forgotten?
