Summary
Jason tries to find some semblance of balance by striking out on his own as a mercenary, far away from Gotham and any of its Bats. He tries to find himself along the way too, figuring out a life without begging for their love.
He doesn't expect to find Hal Jordan in the process. Over and over again, until together, they find a lot more and Jason learns love doesn't have to come with rules. And more importantly, it doesn't have to hurt.
Or: the five times Jason ran into Hal while he was working, and the one time he found the bravery to call for Hal.

Eddie wasn't the person Ollie wanted, but he could pretend. Eddie's hair was the right color and his body felt like it should and he wanted just as badly as Ollie did. It still didn't make him Hal. Nobody could ever replicate the sort of man Hal was, and Ollie'd gotten rid of the original himself.
