    Summary

"Lullabies do not make kinslayers. This he knows. And yet, it never stops the worry from curdling in his chest, the only constant of all the cradles he has sung beside. For the tune endures after all, and nothing empty can truly endure: every vacant hroä holds a fragment of the fëa that once forsook it. Can a song be washed of meaning? Is tenderness immune to ideology? Groping about blindly in the dark of their dreams, Elrond had always worried that he was not watering the crops for his children to harvest, but salting the earth before the seeds could be planted."
    ___________________________
At a parade celebrating the the founding of Imladris, Elrond spots an unforgettable face in the crowd, a face he’s not seen for millennia. To his delight and apprehension, it is indeed Maglor Fëanorian, who brings with him two things. First, a suspiciously tame monkey he insists isn’t a metaphor. Second, the groundshaking admission that Elwing and Eärendil’s sons were not named Elrond and Elros.

Or, a love letter to Maglor, Elwing, and Elrond.

“The Maedhros who stands before his son is not one thing but many. He is a struck-down statue. He is a fading demon. He is a sword in a nuclear war. He is historical debris. He is the sum of a nation’s ruin. He is the first sunset of the Empire’s apocalypse. He is Elrond’s beloved Baba, who would find him under every starless sky. Archives will dissect him. Historians will redeem him. Writers will swallow him whole.”

In 1937, notorious Indian revolutionaries Maedhros Fëanorian and his brother Maglor, take in a British colonial officer's twin sons and raise them to adulthood. Decades later, Elrond Peredhel, trying to leave a family tragedy behind in England, returns to India during a time of political turbulence and finds that everything, from the national landscape to his firebrand father, the ineffable Comrade Maedhros, has changed. Sokka looked around the throne room with interest. “I always wondered what the world was like from up here - must be nice looking out at your adoring subjects.”

“Being the Fire Lord is pretty dull,” Zuko said glumly, "unless you enjoy hearing people bicker about taxes. After a while, thwarting the occasional assassination is basically a form of stress relief."

In which Fire Lord Zuko and Ambassador Sokka get drunk, go fishing, watch theatre, uncover a conspiracy, visit a teahouse, destroy a historical monument, and reckon with the painful legacy of the past – but not necessarily in that order. [PODFIC AVAILABLE]

    Summary

🍅Synopsis: It was no secrecy that out of all the nations and ex-colonies that were ever parts or allies of the Spanish Empire, South Italy was Spain’s favorite. The red tomato of his eyes, if you will. Favoritism wasn’t a new concept that bore any new mystery or unknown, one can easily find the evidence of such phenomenon in any household and institution if one cares to look closely enough; after all, it means exactly what its namesake implies.

What was not so readily obvious, however, were the effects and the far-reaching consequences on other individuals, human and fellow nations alike. Some felt his favoritism more keenly and terribly while others got away relatively unscathed. The goal of this study is to offer a deeper insight from the lens of five (5) different individuals who bore first-hand witness to the consequences of Spain’s absolute devotion to South Italy.

It is with hope that as each unique perspective is shown, a piece of the puzzle will fall in place and bring about a better understanding to the question: What does it mean to be favored by the personification of the Spanish nation?

🐢Note: Each chapter will also come with its own additional warnings, please do heed them. ¡Gracias!🐢
