Summary
The lone glass of water lay between the two heroes, the liquid swirling in the semi-clear cup. It was weakly balanced on top of an uneven stone, as if a faint breeze was enough to topple it over. Despite the summer heat, the traveler and the champion wore every layer that could fit onto them, not breaking eye contact as they sat across from each other, water in the middle.
The Hero of Time was the first to speak, his eyebrows furrowing in what seemed like confusion, “What are you two doing?”
“Friendly competition.” Hyrule curtly replied...

To most, the wind was unpredictable. Sometimes, it was an ally, letting sailors go by without so much as a complaint. Other times, though, it was dangerous. It destroyed towns, it destroyed homes.
It tore apart families, leaving those left behind mourning.
It really just depended on how the Wind Gods felt that day. They, or more specifically, Cyclos, didn't care for their pleas.
There's an important part to the first sentence. "To most". This boy, the young Wind Waker, Hero of Winds; the Gods favored him, one could say. And so, he didn't fear the wind. The wind protected him, after all. It was his guardian.

Summary
It took him what felt like a decade to collect himself. He was a Hero of Courage, and strangely enough he was still here, in this plane of existence. He had enough experience dealing with spirits to know that if he had died and turned into a ghost, it meant that he hadn't moved on. It meant he still had things to do.
With that new resolve invigorating him, he decided to open his eyes once more and analyze the situation. It couldn't be that bad, right?
OK, no. It was bad, it was so bad.
OR: Wind dies, but not really, at least not entirely. He's still around as a ghost, after all. Fortunately for him, Wolfie finds him. Unfortunately for Wolfie, he finds Wind.

Summary
Wind soaked it all in. Every last detail. He took in the ruin and devastation with a knowing feeling of guilt and sorrow. Guilt because they'd known that Lurelin Village had been facing monster troubles. And sorrow because, looking out over the ruins of a town that had been flourishing not so long ago, it felt as though Wind had lost his own home, too.
OR
The Chain have made their way back to Lurelin in Wild's post-Upheaval world, only to find it infested with monsters. With its citizens displaced and the humble fishing village in shambles, Wind is determined to make things right again, alongside Wild and the others. He intends on taking on the pirate ship anchored in the bay - and pulling out an old ability that he hadn't used in a long time. All the while, he thinks of home, and what he has to return to once this adventure is over.
