Apothecary work doesn't change the world. Well, more specifically, apothecary work doesn’t change the fate of Thedas.
At least it shouldn’t.
Anneliese is a particularly untalented mage –who honestly barely qualifies as one– with a love for botany and a hatred for fantasy in a world bursting with both.
MGIT for those who love when Thedas trips and curb stomps our otherworldly travelers… and then maybe Thedas will give them a little kiss on the head before leaving them in the gutter.
WARNING: There is going to be a good chunk of this story in parts of Thedas with no main cast. I’m like a cat kneading my bed to make it all comfy, in this case the kneading is writing a lot of pre-main game chapters. What I’m attempting to give is a Thedas experience, some real grit in your eye content to make you feel like you're really being beat up by a fantasy world (With a Solas ship because I love drama and problems, always).

Summary
With Corypheus gone, the Inquisition has begun to turn toward its original purpose: establishing and maintaining some modicum of order in the face of a war spanning the continent. That will be its primary means of protecting (and, sometimes, pacifying) mages. But Cordelia Trevelyan believes that her duty goes beyond that; the mere survival of the mages cannot be the ultimate goal. She wants to begin building for her kin what she herself now has: a life worth living.

Cullen just looks at her, his expression hard to read but his jaw set stubbornly, the quick half turn of his head telling her that he’s as aware of the curious faces peering round the sides of the tents as she is. Even if he doesn’t take the bait, she’s enjoying dangling it in front of him immensely. He doesn't seem to be a man who's all that used to being teased, which is just too bad. He's proving wonderfully slow to learn.

He looks at her now the way he’s been trying to avoid all morning. And he shouldn’t, he can’t, but he does notice the red on the tips of her ears and nose, the blonde hair tucked behind her ear that curls against her cheek, the defiant angle of her chin, like she's daring him.

Evelyn placed the reports on her desk slowly, his words and the implications sinking in. She turned to him, her smile faded and eyes narrowed.
“You do?” She asked carefully. “You want to come with me to Kirkwall?”
Her hesitation wasn’t surprising. Of the long nights they’d spent talking in the dark, wrapped in one another where it was safest, he’d said more than once he never intended to return. He’d foolishly declared himself healed; there was no need to open old wounds.
But even stitched together, a wound could still be infected. Sometimes reopening to clean out the rot was the only way forward.
When Inquisitor Evelyn Trevelyan is invited to Kirkwall by Sebastian Vael on a diplomatic visit, Cullen realises the only way he'll close that chapter of his life is to go back and face it for himself.
