You wake up to insistent knocking on your door. You have no idea what time it is. It could be extremely late, or absurdly early. Time is a concept for people who can process it, and you definitely cannot.
You stumble, wincing the whole way, to the door. The knocking is really starting to give you a headache. You’d be shocked if it didn’t wake anybody else up.
You’ve barely unlocked the door when it’s being shoved open, and suddenly a mouth is slanted firmly over yours.
Sleep vanishes for the moment to provide stark clarity to what’s going on. The flurry of white hair and the leather gloves that hold your face assure you that this isn’t some random guy off the street. Sylus’s lips press against yours desperately, passionate but not heated, like he needs to just feel you there. Before you even get a chance to respond, he pulls away. His hands fall from your face in favor of holding your waist. Red eyes scan your body, latching onto every inch of exposed skin; he frowns deeper with every bandage and bruise he sees.
“You look like hell, sweetie.”

"You're wrong," he murmurs, voice husky and edged with something raw. "You’re fertile. I can smell it on you."
You freeze.
His lips ghost just beneath your ear as he continues, tone smooth and reverent. "Your scent is different now—sweet, ripe, like fruit at the peak of bloom. The warmth of your skin, the rhythm of your pulse...your body sings to mine in ways you cannot hear. But I do."
His hand tightens at your waist, possessive, anchoring you to him like you might drift away otherwise. The heat in his eyes is no longer just desire—it is intention, it is instinct honed over centuries, it is him answering a call your body didn’t even know it had made.
"You're ready. Now," he growls, the final word laced with a quiet sort of reverence, as if he were speaking a truth ordained by something far older than either of you.

I threw the covers over the bloody stain.

“I-it’s nothing. Go back to sleep.” I doubled over and hissed as pain shot through me like lightning, from my gut to my hips to my legs. When Zayne had seen me on my last cycle, he’d said classic endometriosis and suggested referring me to a gynaecologist… perhaps I should have listened.
“You wouldn’t be lying to me now, kitten?”
A cute moment based on my own experience with endometriosis.
