    (UPDATE: Hello, after years of inactivity, I'm back :') I'm sorry to those who have suffered because of my discontinued fics, but I will be *slightly* rewriting this fic and continuing it! I'm still attached to the DSMP fandom and characters even after all the drama and controversy that has happened, and I in no way support Wilbur Soot's actions. Please separate his character in this fic from the real life figure.)

    Phil froze; then, his expression darkened just slightly, a shadow falling over his emerald eyes. “Tommy, how would you know about that?”

    Ah, shit. Tommy blanched, glancing away as he spat out a quick lie. “Dream told me! He said he heard something about it from a spirit.”

    Phil sighed, placing a gentle hand on Tommy’s shoulder. “The revival book is not something you should tamper with, Tommy,” he advised lowly. “For your own safety, it’s best you forget whatever he told you.”

    Tommy nodded nervously, ignoring how the revival book felt like it weighed the weight of the earth in his satchel.

     

    Or: Tommy is a plant witch at the Esempi Academy who also has the peculiar ability to speak to books. With the school-wide magic tournament not far away, everything is looking promising for him. That is, until a certain revival book falls into his possession. Now it seems like that was the catalyst that opened Pandora’s Box, and, well… Some people really will do anything for power, no?

    “–ommy, Tommy!” Wilbur’s voice cut through the rune’s talk startling Tommy. Wilbur eyed him, concern etched on his face, “you good?”

    “Yea, yea just...fine,” Tommy cleared his throat before looking back at the runes, “we got a downer of a rune cast though, Wilbur.”

    Wilbur sighed and released Tommy’s shoulder before reaching for the Halgalaz rune, “I know. I wasn’t expecting anything so serious.” He studied the ominous rune, “makes me a bit nervous, to be honest. What’s the last one again?”

    Tommy looked down catching sight of the remaining rune. His throat tightened and he muttered, “Raido.”

    Tommy's a street performer, a story teller; nothing really special about him. Except for the magic that hums just below his skin and his cryptic friends that never seem to stick around. But Tommy was happy in his village if a bit lonely during the winter months when Wilbur mysteriously disappeared. He never knew how soon it could all vanish like smoke from a fire. He never knew how important it would be to know of the trees and their names. For none are greater than oak and ash and thorn.

    That doesn't stop Tommy from dipping his toes into the matter, in the most chaotic and dangerous ways possible.

    “Gold?” a porcelain smiley-faced figure questions, kneeling before the child and offering out a hand. His face is hidden, his voice is dripping with amusement and greed, but Tommy takes the hand of the first person that has listened since his parents died.

    “He can spin straw into gold?” the emperor questions, a great being with wings of smoke and death and eyes as cold as ice. His twin sons laugh like a funny joke has been told, identical pairs of tusks gleaming in the light of the throne room, and a challenge is set.

    Three days. A room of straw.

    A story that will be spoken about for eons.

    The red haired ghost smirked, leaning back until they reclined on an invisible lounge. "Well, for each hour you spend in costume, we can waive a percentage of your university fees and—"
    ”—FREE COLLEGE?! Do you want me to wear pumps or stilettos?”

    Tommy isn’t a normal university student. Sure, he joins the lettuce eating club, eats the elevator spaghetti and gets all his shoelaces stolen. But multiple times a week Tommy has anime transformation, becoming the mysterious Red Mascot, the second hottest person in the university. (Tommy was the first, obviously) But as the year continues, he finds he isn't the only one keeping secrets. Shubble only ever returns after midnight, there are other house mascots running around the university—their identities could be right under his nose—and even his ghostly sidekick, Clementine, is holding her tongue. That won't stop Tommy from trying to win prank of the year, though. The reason: TOMMY IS A BIG MAN!
