So why the hell was he getting ready to pick up his brothers from the airport on a Sunday morning?
Tommy has been living life since Wilbur and Techno left perfectly fine. He was fine! He’s about to graduate and is also an artist. Now he’s hiding this fact from his family. The same family who left him alone when he was 10.

Tommy doesn’t turn towards him. Doesn’t say anything. He wonders if there is anything he could say.
“You’re a hero. One of the best. And you’re just going to what? Watch everything burn?”
Tommy looks at him this time. Sad blue eyes meeting his gaze. “That’s where you’re wrong,” he says in a tired voice, “I’m not a hero.”
Tommy used to be the best hero, second only to one. But when a city is destroyed and truths are brought to light he disappears.

When he learned what the look in Techno's eyes meant when his older brother had pulled his sword free and cut down the commoner who had tried to touch Tommy's arm on one of their travels.
When he understood that all the songs Wilbur created were about wars and violence, victory and death. A song sung with a cheery tone after Techno and their father returned from a battle they hadn't needed to be a part of.
Twelve years old when Tommy saw his father rip a thief apart before the man could even defend himself. When the thief had only stolen a half eaten loaf of bread that Tommy didn't even want anymore.
Tommy was thirteen when he discovered that what his family enjoyed was wrong.

It was Tommy... but none wanted to believe it was him.
The teen looked dangerously thin, covered in ragged oversized clothes that did nothing to protect him from the elements let alone mobs. His hair was long and matted with the once golden locks looking closer to a dingy brown and his skin was covered in thick soot and filth.
...But what was most concerning was his right arm... or rather his lack of a right arm.
His arm was missing just above the elbow, a leather belt tied at its base as a sad attempt at a tourniquet , the wound was still dripping fresh blood into the white snow.
Tommy looked at them with his once blue eyes, now grey and dull, as they rolled back and he collapsed into the snow.

They see him as a form of entertainment, a fun little human boy they can coddle and display. They throw him away once they've gotten bored of him, neglecting him for the next 2 years. He's sick and tired of their awfulness.
So he runs.
He runs into the forbidden forest, where he meets a fae named Dream. A fae, who was originally hellbent on kidnapping him to become his eternal servant. Instantly, he gets way too attached to the kid; who in turn needs a way to escape the clutches of his abusive family."So whadaya say about becoming a fae with me?"
Thus making: a consentual kidnapping. That's not how faerie kidnapping is supposed to work.
