Zuko grasps the golden egg in his large, gentle hands. Sokka can barely hear him when he says, reverently, “Thank you.” The Chief doesn’t smile, but his expression warms like a dark stone in the sun. He bows once more before turning and leaving the throne room. Zuko stares at the gift in his hands with a soft, unreadable expression. Sokka’s heart flutters in his chest.

2.Flint and Steel
The bald man grabbed Sokka by the throat, but his grip went slack when he heard shouts of alarm from his companions. Sokka began to laugh.
Fire Lord Zuko stood in the center of the road, eyes blazing almost as bright as his fists. A red dragon stood shoulder height to him, tail swishing and teeth bared. They looked like two iterations of a dangerous spirit, blessed by the sunset behind them. Smoke escaped both of their noses. When Zuko spoke, his harsh words were accompanied by a lick of flame.
“Take your fucking hands off my husband.”
3.Symmetry
It had been a long time since Aang had seen Zuko this angry.
Ten years as Fire Lord had tempered his volatile tendencies. Away from the influence of his abusive father, at peace with his own morality, and surrounded by people who loved him, Zuko turned violence into passion. With the help of his husband, the Ambassador of the Water Tribe and expert tactician, Zuko thought things through and had a newfound strength in diplomacy. He was gentle and caring, and he would do anything for his friends and for his people.
But seeing him now – his hair long and wild, his clenched fists smoking – Aang was reminded of the teenage Zuko who rampaged his way into their lives.
"They took Druk."
4.Fire and Ice
Katara’s hair whipped around her as she turned. There was a chilling mixture of relief and panic in her blue eyes. It was in that moment that Sokka understood why the dragon and the waterbender were facing off.
Behind Druk’s widely planted feet, Sokka caught a glimpse of long black hair and a pool of blood creeping its way across the ice. He stumbled closer, ignoring the pain in his head and the warning growl from Druk. Zuko was unmoving. There was an arrow sticking out of his left shoulder.

Summary
A rewrite of Avatar; The Last Airbender.
Banished and burned, Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation is told the only way to return to his home, to restore his honour, was to find the Avatar.
Three years later, Zuko was training when he discovers something which shakes him to his core. That the Avatar was closer then he thought.
With this discovery what he must do as the Fire Nation Prince conflicts with his duty as the Avatar. It is said that blood runs thicker then water, but with his eyes closed he can't tell the difference.

This is a rewrite where Zuko is the Avatar, Aang still survives the genocide by running away and getting stuck in an iceberg, everything happens chronologically to the show (episodes are still in line with the show, no jumbling them around) and how things are different (somewhat)- Words:
