Summary
Twin brothers Arthur and Merlin are cruelly separated at birth when Uther Pendragon, fearing a dark prophecy, raises only Arthur, believing Merlin's magical potential to be a dangerous threat to the kingdom. Consumed by resentment and longing, Merlin grows up determined to confront the father who abandoned him and reclaim the magic he has been forced to hide.
Seeking vengeance, Merlin ventures to Camelot. But to his shock, a dragon reveals that his true destiny is to protect Uther’s son, Arthur, and end the great purge of magic, forcing him to reconsider his path and face the consequences of the future that awaits him.

Summary
Merlin is having panic attacks every night now, no one knew and he was really trying to keep it that way. On top of that his Magic had been going fritz and he was struggling to keep it secret. The struggles come to a head when he is out on a long journey with Arthur and the knights.

Summary
The castle is tense after the discovery of Agravaine's deceit. Arthur has all but completely pushed everyone away in favor of suffering alone and Merlin and the knights struggle to bring him back to them. Just as Arthur begins opening up once more, an accident on a hunting trip forces secrets to be revealed and relationships to be tested. Upon discovering yet another betrayal Arthur forces Merlin and his defenders away once more, but this time, for good, banishing them from Camelot on pain of death. The withdrawal of Merlin's presence from the kingdom puts it into perilous danger and forces Arthur to question everything he'd ever known in order to save his kingdom.
OR: I rewatched season 4 and it made me so mad that I decided to make them suffer MY way.
(This will be an evenly split Arthur/Merlin and Gwaine/Leon fic)

Merlin’s gaze shifts over to the window, Arthur’s presence clearly an afterthought now.” Your people are out there because they know. They know what I am and what I pretended to be, they know that it isn’t natural.”
Arthur flinches as though he’s been slapped. He frowns, hands at his sides, standing there like a child.
He thinks of Uther in all his glory. Heavy armor, icy stare.
Uther who never would have agreed to this, Uther who would be ashamed of the man he’s become.Arthur needs this to be mutual. He needs Merlin to fight for this just as much as him because if he doesn’t, he’s not sure how long he can withstand it.
(Or, Arthur thought he’d made the right decision. For Merlin, for Camelot. But not everyone is pleased.
