Summary
In one world, Fire Lord Ozai crowns himself the Phoenix King. He planned to rise supreme from the ashes of all he burned.
Fire Lord Sozin was known as the Dragon of Caldera for his might and the execution of his own dragon for betrayal.
Fire Lord Azulon was known as the Dragon of the South for his act in eliminating the Southern Waterbenders, as well as the dragon he killed on the eve of his twentieth birthday.
Crown Prince Iroh was known as the Dragon of the West for (allegedly) killing the last dragon remaining in the entire Fire Nation.
There were no dragons remaining for Prince Ozai. That being said, Ozai was far more a dragon than any of his family.
The throne of the Fire Nation was known as the Dragon Throne because of the fierceness with which dragons protected their brood and the Fire Lord protected their citizens.
In this world, Ozai is a dragon. He is fierce, and sharp, and fire. Above all else, he will protect his family.

Summary
Whatever it was scaring Prince Zuko, apparently Sokka understood it, too. Shyu could hear the boy’s nervous gulp from across the brig.
If it could scare the Avatar’s companion and the crown prince, Shyu knew it must be terrifying.
“I have some questions about the Avatar,” Zhao drawled as he stood before Sokka’s cell. “And you will answer them if you know what’s good for you.”
Despite the mounting fear in his eyes, Sokka lifted his chin in desperate defiance as he crossed his arms and stood upright. “And when I don’t answer them?”
Zhao smiled.
Sokka tried to rescue Sage Shyu from the collapse of Roku's temple. Instead he, Shyu, and Zuko were all captured by Commander Zhao.
And Zhao never wastes an opportunity.

Airbender!Zuko AU
Roku's wife, Ta Min, was an airbender. Her genes took generations to resurface, but when Ursa has her first child, he is an airbender. No one knows except for Zuko, and he plans on keeping it a secret for all of his life. Though, plans don't always work out and when his mother disappears and he gets burned and banished two years after that, Zuko's life is turned upside down.
Massive canon rewrite with an airbending Zuko going through the events that took place in the show, with sporadic updates while the author tries to have a schedule.

Betaed by h_faith_marrUrsa's son was born without the inner flame that every fire bender carried within themselves, and for that, her husband was going to have him killed. There was nothing she could do to stop him, as she clung to her child, and the man attempted to wrestle Zuko away from her. She was pleading with him to spare the child, but Ozai refused to budge. At least not until Fire Sage Shyu suggested that they pray to Agni to bless the child with bending. But Agni refused. Vaatu, however, didn't.

Summary
Zuko gets cursed by the Fire Sages and transformed into a dragon at Ozai's command. (Zuko did not know, he was lied to by Ozai.) Ozai tries to control Zuko to use him as a weapon for war, but Zuko is finally done with his father's shit. Due to Zuko fighting back and not complying, Ozai has Zuko locked away under the Fire Sages' Temple.
After the Eclipse, newly crowned Firelord Iroh is approached by Fire Sage Shyu who informs Iroh of the dragon situation. Shyu does not know that the Dragon is Zuko, just that the Fire Sages were keeping a captive dragon below the temple.
Zuko attempts to communicate with those around him, but nobody really pays attention to what he is doing, because a baby dragon is adoreable. And Zuko in dragon form is the size of a cat.

Zuko splits his rage between himself and Iroh. He punches and pinches his thighs (it’s best in combination) in the privacy of the guest bedroom (not his. Never his, no matter how many times Iroh tells him he’s never ever going to leave him), and at dinner, he pokes and prods at Iroh until he finds the weak spots, and then digs his nails in. Eventually, his nails will catch on the spot, and he will peel back Iroh’s layers until he finds the man buried underneath, the man who is just like his father, just like everybody is.
(Is it everybody? Is it men? Is it fathers? Zuko’s not sure, but he knows that it’s Iroh.)
One day, he finds the spot.
