He gulped, licking his lips. He had revealed his magic to him two weeks ago and up until that point, the two hadn’t spoken to one another. Arthur had requested not to see him for that time, asking that he allow him some space, which Merlin had understood completely.
It was a lot to learn, especially for a man who spent his entire life believing in one truth, now realizing it was indeed false.
But still, it had been a painstakingly long two weeks, with Merlin unwilling to get out of bed, too busy agonizing over his reveal and Arthur’s possible reactions. He imagined the king asking him to leave Camelot, of his best friend throwing him in the dungeons with the threat of execution. He imagined Arthur asking Gaius about the intricacies of magic, of Arthur staring at the law banning sorcery and wondering whether or not to put an end to it.
But in all of his worries, all of the thoughts that had been wrestling in his mind, he could never have imagined this.Series

Summary
When Merlin and Arthur were young, they secretly eloped and then, naively, adopted a child, Mordred, that they had found stranded on the streets.
A year later, when things start not to work out, Arthur and Merlin decide to divorce, and Arthur gets full custody of Mordred. Merlin moves to New York to pursue college and Arthur takes a job in his father's business for a steady income.
Seven years later, and Merlin decides to come back to be a part of Mordred's life. He quickly finds, however, that they have become different people than they were seven years ago. But maybe, through Merlin's growing connection to Mordred, he can finally start to close the gap that separated him and Arthur for so long. And possibly, rekindle their old love that they once had.

Arthur leans his head against the whipping post, hands clenching his manacles and breathing heavily. Merlin, when we see him, is breathing just as hard, eyes wide and tearful.
Uther approaches Leon and takes the whip from his hand. Leon looks relieved as it seems Uther has decided to end this punishment now, perhaps he has finally realized how wrong all of this is.UTHER
Stand aside, Sir Leon.He turns to the crowd.

None in my kingdom, be they noble or common, will be spared the consequences of their actions, not even my own son. And none shall receive preferential treatment or a lighter sentence no matter who they be!I just changed some things around and added some scenes for my own amusement. I think it really expands upon and changes the relationship of Arthur with his father as well as deepening Arthur's and Merlin's characters and their relationships with others. Arthur is punished more severely in this version of the script for his disobedience while his father is under the spell of a troll posing as a childhood flame. I recommend watching the episode before reading for better context.
