Summary
Takes place two months after the movie. The Forest Spirit may be dead, but he used the last of his strength to return the forest to normal. Ashitaka divides his time by helping to rebuild Iron Town and spending time with San in the forest. Things turn chaotic when Lord Asano returns to take over Iron Town and destroy the forest. The citizens of Iron Town and the gods of the forest are forced to put their differences aside and fight together to protect their homes. To make matters worse, a new demon arrives and begins destroying everything in its path. San and Ashitaka attempt to keep the peace between the humans and gods of the forest as well as fight against Lord Asano and the new demon.
Adventure/Romance/Drama/Supernatural/Angst/Friendship/Family/Hurt & Comfort/Tragedy. Pairings: San and Ashitaka, Kohroku and Toki. Rated for some language and violence.

“Sometimes I think the gods are laughing at us.”
Ashitaka didn’t flinch. He knew he had been a figure of hope for many of his people. Children born with a connection to the spirits like him were growing rare, and he had been trained and educated all his life to become a future chieftain. It might be another ten or twenty years before another would rise up to take his place.
Their people, the Emishi, had been nearly wiped out 500 years ago by the Emperor. Those that survived fled east, and they had protected themselves through their isolation. This had given rise to the banishment ritual. Ashitaka would never speak of his home, family, or friends to any outsider for the rest of his life. And he would never return.
It was the will of the gods. They may laugh as much as they like—they would be laughing at themselves.
