Summary
Hank and Connor decide that they need a few days to get away and relax in nature. Unfortunately, nothing can ever be as simple as they'd like for it to be, especially when there are still people who'd like to teach androids a lesson.

“Well, android, what’re you doing here?” one of the young men asked. He had spiky blonde hair and sharp green eyes. A scan revealed that his name was Sonny Ward, 24, and unemployed.“Um,” Connor said, his eyes flickering from Sumo to Jones to Hank and back to Sumo, “trying to catch my dog?” he said.
Sonny left out a harsh, disbelieving laugh. “Did you hear him?” he asked his companions, gesturing to Connor. “Trying to catch my dog. No, you idiot, I meant what is an android doing out here.”

Summary

Synthetic skin shimmered clean and strange as the glow of neon lamps hit it. A LED flashed in a cool blue and fingertips twitched as it did a first system check. It was time. The commands were clear.
Hunt. Find. Eliminate.
"Awake."* * +++++++ * *
"That's not good." Chloe's warm voice sounded genuinely concerned, but Elijah had calmed after the tests. He leaned back and stared at the screen, where ‘ERROR information doesn’t exist’ kept flashing.
"Do not worry. That's probably the best."
He ignored her doubtful look. The next few years proved to him that he was right.

Summary
Gavin Reed, one of the most vocal anti-android members of the DPD, has the RK900, Nines, assigned as his partner. The two of them work well together, but Nines can't ignore Detective Reed's dislike of androids. He attempts to minimize anything that might remind him too overtly of their differences.
Or, five times Nines hid something about his android self, and one time he didn't have to hide anymore.

Summary
Connor had messed up. He didn’t deserve to be with Markus or part of the android liberation. He didn’t deserve to be a detective with the DPD. He could no longer work with Nines, or help Gavin who had hustled for fifteen years just to be replaced with a defective, dangerous killing machine.
He could no longer go back to Hank and Sumo either and that hurt the most.
After Connor returns from a traumatic experience he is plagued with nightmares. He can't tell why Amanda is back or what she wants. Connor tries to soldier through his problems and not worry his dad, boyfriend, or brother, but it won't be easy as his world begins to slowly crumble.
Sequel to Of Frogs and Butterflies but can be read on its own.

Summary
Call it what you like, the remnants of some long-forgotten protocol, so old that the software engineers forgot they built it into their systems, or the lingering trauma of being abused and debased by anti-android humans, or even just some desire to still be of use to Lieutenant Anderson.
Whatever it is, it keeps Connor and Nines retreating to a creaky closet in the very back of the garage, hidden away until they can be of use again.

This ff is my idea to explain Gavin's hate for androids. (Part 2)
In the eyes of Detective Reed androids were just defect machines. Made to torture him. He has survived his own household model and now, after all these years, a new RK model appeared to make his life more terrible.
RK900 has to deal with the horrible human being as a partner, but it seems that not all bad rumors about Reed were true.

His fingers clawed into the table, while his ankles came out white. In the glass wall, which separated his desk from the passageway, he saw a reflection.
A tall, male figure. A blurred face. Dark hair. Clinical white clothing. The flare-up of the blue android icons.

“Detective Reed.”
With a sigh Gavin slowly spun his chair around to face the tall, oh god he was tall, android that stood next to his desk. He’d heard about this guy around the station. How he looked exactly like Connor but this one had a stick up his ass. Even more so than the original.
“I am RK-900. I believe we have been assigned partners on a case. I would like to discuss the details with you now if you are free.” He spoke with an arrogant air about him which only worked to rile Gavin up more.
Without breaking eye contact Gavin leant back in his chair, stretching to poke his head around the androids large frame.
“FOWLER!”
That was the beginning of Gavin’s partnership with RK-900,
Nines as they now called him.
A partnership that was going as well as one can expect between a man who is known around the department for his hatred of androids, and the shiniest, latest model of android detective Cyberlife had to offer.
robot who, apparently after gaining his freedom, decided sarcasm was ‘fun’ and something he was suddenly fluent in. And if it wasn’t sarcasm then it was that deadpan, arrogant, I’m higher than you tone that never failed to piss Gavin off.

“Am I distracting you Detective?” Nines said, breaking the silence as he met Gavin’s eyes in the reflection of the window.
“If I’d known how difficult it would be for you to stay focused in my presence I would have suggested you have a different partner for this case.” He said calmly as Gavin gaped at him like a fish.
“Wha- You- I-” Gavin stuttered racking his brain for something to say until he saw the androids cheek twitch in the reflection in the window.
The fucker was teasing him.
“You fuc-”

“Gavin!”
Gavin cried out as a sharp pain burned through his leg and began to buckle underneath him. The fucker shot him!
“Nines!” Gavin shouted
The sounds of a scuffle dragged Gavin’s attention away from his leg and he looked up just in time see Nines bring a swift knee into Wallace’s chest with more force than necessary.
His LED, usually a steady calm blue, spilled over the alley covering it in a cautious yellow glow.
“Move your hands detective.” Nines voice didn’t leave room for debate and Gavin was too preoccupied watching the yellow LED spin to say anything back.
Nines tore the bottom of his shirt to make a temporary bandage, kneeling down to be level with the wound. Nines face was blank as usual, the only sign that something was different was the still yellow LED.
“Hey quit poking around down there.” Gavin forced out, trying to hide the pain that laced his voice, “Some of us actual feel pain you know.”
Gavin watched with wide eyes as Nines LED flashed to red once, for just a second, before returning to the yellow.
“My apologies Detective.” Nines spoke low
“What’s going on in here?” Gavin tapped a bloody finger against the glowing LED leaving traces of dark red on pale skin.
Nines didn’t answer. He was just silent, still on one knee in front of Gavin not even looking up at him.

I…came to apologise Detective. I have been…thinking about your injury. I should have taken more precautions when dealing with an unstable suspect. I will do better in the future.” Nines spoke calmly and clearly, only pausing once or twice as he tried to find the words.
"I will admit Detective, when I saw you get hurt it caused me some…distress.” His voice didn’t give away what he was feeling. It remained the same aloof tone it always was. Yet his words still caused a lump to grow in Gavin’s throat. “Distress I am unaccustomed to.”
“Well, I guess it’s just more proof you guys feel things.”

Summary
Gavin knows he's been an asshole to androids before. And now that he knows Nines has been so worried about it, he's made a promise to himself to be better about it. And if that means talking about feelings and complicated human stuff with an android, that's what he's gonna do. Because he cares about his partner, damnit, and he's not just gonna give that up.

While walking home from the bar, Gavin stumbles upon a group of teenagers attacking an android with a familiar face. Against his best judgement, Gavin decides to take the android in. Now it’s Gavin’s job to take care of this traumatised, mute, feral android.
“Connor? What happened?” he asked.
But, the android remained silent. Its grey eyes continued to stare at Gavin and the now familiar unsettling feeling was back.Wait. Grey eyes?
Gavin did a double take. Its eyes were indeed grey. Not the doe-eyed brown that he had gotten all too familiar with at the station.
“You’re not Connor,” he said, matter of factly. The unknown android cocked its head at his statement, seemingly confused by it. “What are you?” he asked.

Realizing that Hank made an amazing comeback thanks to the help of one loveable RK800 model, otherwise known as Connor, the DPD decide that another of their difficult officers could benefit from the same. Upon getting ahold of CyberLife, they're sent an older RK model to be Gavin's partner. Gavin is less than thrilled and upon realizing that this RK model hasn't been freed, Connor makes it his mission to wake her up.
