"I must be honest with you - I only speak your language this well because all my friends are scholars, and foreign cultural affairs put me to sleep. Not to mention I'm a fair bit stressed by my upcoming Frisk - can you just remind me again, the dirtfolk. You have how many genders? Three?"

Summary
Five seconds before he first meets Eddie Munson, Steve realizes that the kids commandeering his car so he'd drive them to the mall was actually part of an elaborate set-up. At least Eddie looks just as surprised, kohl-lined eyes scraping over Steve's jeans and polo with a curiosity that makes Steve's ears flush.
Eddie desperately needs your help, Dustin explains unhelpfully, hey, stop trying to hit me, I'll tell Hopper and he'll arrest you, and anyway, I wasn't lying, we did really want to see the Avatar movie! But also, you know how to dress nice, and you're really good at being trans, so maybe you can teach Eddie.
What the fuck, says Steve.
I'm killing your dwarven paladin next session, says Eddie, and Dustin snorts, you wouldn't dare, see you in three hours!
Dustin speeds off with the other kids, and Steve blinks. What the hell was he talking about?
Eddie rolls her eyes. C’mon, big boy. You're getting me a skirt or something.

Summary
Steve’s life is good. He’s managed to keep Dustin safe, coming up on six years of the two of them criss-crossing the Midwest, tracking down the monsters who are still slipping through the cracks between worlds, and ending them. And he’s got PK686766, who he met in an anonymous chatroom and whose emails are now kinda the highlight of his day. And who can maybe give him a little advice on what to do when a guy you thought was dead suddenly returns out of nowhere, and is now apparently set on blowing up your life.
Eddie’s life is fine. He’s alive, for one thing. Has gotten pretty good by now at his new gig, letting Uncle Sam point him like a cannon at extra-dimensional nasties and go “boom.” Sure, things are a little more complicated now that Steve Harrington has decided to be a massive bitch about Eddie’s attempts to stop his and Dustin’s homicidal amateur crusade against the forces of darkness. But he’s got the next message from Capt200Free waiting in his inbox, and a growing feeling that maybe he doesn't want this little anonymous pen pal situation to stay anonymous much longer.
