    Summary

    One evening I was laying in bed, thinking about the Silmarillion and the Silmarils, and the Third Kinslaying—and I thought: Would it have been different if there'd been a sensible woman in there? Then I thought: probably not. Then I thought: What if I give Elwing a sister?

    I love writing, I love writing fantasy even more, and I love Tolkien's work even more than that. Honestly, what could be better than this? I don't own any of his works of course, I'm using his characters and settings to play around with, not to plagiarise.

    Because I'm trying to give myself a bit of a break, I've decided not to write the story in full. For one, it would take me too much time, and second, it would just be exhausting. I don't want to rewrite part of the Silmarillion—I'm just a student.

    Summary

    This series is Faramir-centric, in an AU where Faramir is secretly the illegitimate son of Aragorn. In the course of writing the first main story about Faramir and Aragorn beginning to work together before they knew about this relationship (Beginnings & Endings), I rather got derailed into developing a bunch of other characters, which is where most of the stories come from. It is entirely my intention to return to finish Beginnings & Endings.

    Please note that, currently, many of the stories in the DH AU include spanking, or some element of corporal punishment, in at least one chapter. If you would rather read stories without spanking or corporal punishment, most of my DH AU stories are re-written to exclude all of that in the Desperate Hours Alternate Universe Gen Version, available here: https://archiveofourown.org/series/16409 under my SusanaR main pseudonym.

    Below in the notes I have listed the major distinctions from, and certain elaborations on, the canon of Tolkien's Legendarium, for purposes of this AU, which I am calling the Desperate Hours alternate universe (DH AU).

They are raised by Morgoth and Sauron to be terrifying forces of evil, raised to serve him wholly and become lords and ladies of his realm when he wins the War. But Morgoth finds that not all of them bend to his will, finding them to be far more powerful and strong-willed than he expects.
    The children grow in a place of darkness and despair, finding joy and love despite the horror, and they become a family against the odds, each of them struggling with which parts of themselves they should be true to.

    Galadriel has lost much in the fight against Morgoth, including her husband, and she knows that Sauron is hiding, biding his time. She vows to find him, and put an end to him once and for all.
    Halbrand is the lost King of the Southlands, and together with Galadriel, he attempts to take back his home, and his crown.
    Then the mountain erupts and all is lost.
    He is wounded, dying, and Galadriel brings him to Eregion, where the elven smith of legend, Celebrimbor, is attempting to find a way to save the elves using a single piece of Mithril.
    While there, a recovering Halbrand and Galadriel build on a friendship forged in hardship and battle, finding solace in each other's arms, their spark turning to flame in the wee hours.
    And the Southland King brings with him answers that Celebrimbor sorely needs.
    But when Galadriel finds out that the last Southland king died a thousand years before, and confronts her new love, can she resist the temptation to be come his queen, and perhaps redeem her greatest enemy in the process?
