David has always hated the cold. He hates the way it bites into his skin, turning his face red and his fingers numb. He hates the dread that comes with it, the cloudy skies filled with the promise of snow that has not yet been fulfilled. He hates the ice that covers the road, making the sidewalk slick and dangerous.
So being thrown out into that cold with nothing but a coat and a few dollars in his pocket is an absolute nightmare....
Or, David gets kicked out and goes to a bar to spend the night. You'll never guess who's bartending.

The voice had a heavy New Yorker accent underlining the growl.
“Who are you and what are you doing here?”
David didn’t answer the question. Instead, he glanced at the body and tentatively asked, “What did that man do?”
The dangerous individual seemed surprised at the question if the slight widening of his eyes and the lightening of the pressure at David’s neck was any indication.
