    The thing is, whatever happens to Litten is turning out to be very, very important to Meowth. And he knows that Stoutland isn’t going to make it through the night. And he knows that, when that happens, Litten is going to be left alone.

    And so he jumps in front of the Twerp. “Now you’re gonna listen real close,” he demands, putting more weight into his words than he has in a long time. “Meowth?” the Twerp asks, raising an eyebrow. “What are you doing here?”

    “I want you to look after that litten,” Meowth says, looking the Twerp straight in the eyes. “And you better do that right.”

    Meowth seriously dislikes the Twerp. He would be the first to tell you that. Team Rocket hates twerps, and twerps hate Team Rocket. That’s how the world works.

    But Meowth has also been following the Twerp around for the better part of six years, and he knows that, when it gets down to it, there are very few trainers - if any - that are better at looking after pokemon than the Twerp.

    So he knows that the Twerp’ll take good care of Litten.

    The Twerp narrows his eyes. But then he nods his head, and says, “I promise.”
