When the dust settles, Shepard is left to pick up the pieces of herself and decide, once and for all, who she wants to be without the Alliance or the Council’s influence. She should want peace and quiet, a white picket fence to park herself in with Liara. The universe certainly seems to expect it of her.
Unfortunately for the universe, Shepard can’t seem to keep herself out of trouble. Habits like that are hard to break.

“You did say you wanted to spend some time alone together,” Shepard offers. The surveillance camera in the corner of the room doesn’t count as company. “We’re alone; we’re not currently being shot at. Hell, I’d say the date is going pretty well, all things considered.” He’s even wearing something that closely resembles formalwear. Maybe that’s where they’re going wrong. Every time they try and squeeze in a little time for themselves, they forego body armor, and someone inevitably tries to murder them.
Kaidan tugs his wrists to draw Shepard’s attention to the chains holding him in a mirrored position across the room. “This,” he says, the curve of his eyebrows supported entirely by his irritation, “is not exactly what I had in mind.”

A young woman known as May Haruka gets roped in with the soldiers once the egg hatches and the creature known as the Manaphy imprints on her. The mötley crew must now evade Cerberus forces and solve the mystery of what makes the Manaphy so valuable. They will travel to forgotten parts of the galaxy, fight cunning enemies, and put their trust in each other.

The war has ended and the Reapers are destroyed, but while the galaxy rejoices in the defeat of their greatest enemies, the people of the Normandy are silent in the aftermath. Shepard is gone, the world will claim, but the crew have other ideas. If there's anything he's learnt and taught his companions, it's that there's almost nothing that can separate this found family; not even death.
But for now, all they have are each other.
