Before the time travel, and the snap that undid the snap was grief-- unbearable amounts of grief that he shouldered and dealt with even though it took a lot more effort to breathe. Druig was always in tune with the emotions of mortals, so when Thanos snapped his damn fingers and half the population of the universe dissolved away-- Druig felt it, felt the terror, confusion, the sadness, and grief.
And when the Avengers show up at his front door practically oozing grief, he feels he’s obligated to help them-- if it’s for selfish or selfless reasons, well that’s up for personal interpretation.

There is still a glow low down on Makkari’s back, but it takes seeing the motion Thena has performed a thousand times on the battlefield to realise it’s not the remnants of her super speed.
