Summary
All of the Camelot worries as Prince Arthur fails to find an omega mate, he could fall to the madness at any time and then the other countries would swarm Camelot. The last matcher Uther hired has an idea why Arthur isn’t finding a mate. Uther is both happy that a solution may come and annoyed at who exactly that solution might be.
Very similar start premise as Babby Heat but this splits from that one pretty fast

Summary
In the midst of capturing a magical creature, Merlin is transported to a world where Camelot is home to thousands of magic-users. King Uther is nowhere to be found, Arthur is a prince again, and Queen Ygraine sits on the throne.
Merlin plans to get back to his own reality, to his own Camelot. To do that, however, he must have access to information that is inside a shielded castle protected by powerful sorcerers. The only way in is to participate in the Apprentice Exam and be an apprentice to a magic-user included in Camelot's court. Should be easy . . . right?
Conspiracies are afoot and Merlin just knows that, somehow, he is or will be involved. Just his luck.

Another shove from Merlin, and Arthur continues walking, shaking his head to clear it. His eyes are watery and his nose stings from the scent in the air. The disorientation that often accompanies revealed glamours slips away. Arthur wipes at his face, scrubs his eyes with harsh fingertips. He must be tired, that's it. That's all. He's tempted to turn back and look at the woman once more, but something settles the urge, He was probably mistaken. It he looked again. the woman and her reflection would be the same.
So. he doesn't look back. Not at her anvway. Arthur turns his face the other way to regard Merlin from the corner of his eve. walking behind him with his hands in his pockets.
He doesn't seem pulled to watch the women who flank them like Arthur had. Actually, he looks entirely unaffected by the flurry of movement around them. If his stare wasn't so intense, he might think the man bored.
Merlin looks a little rumpled, even with the change of clothes Mordred had provided from Merlin's flat. His linen shirt is royal blue and open at the collar with a tunic cut. The trousers are a dark brown, something tapered at the waist and ankle, as Arthur had seen before Merlin shoved his feet into those slouchy boots. Merlin's thumhs hook the outside of his squared-off pockets like he's taking a casual stroll not being led into the den of a viper.
And the jacket. It’s old, clearly well-loved and well made, and Arthur wonders if he’s had it long enough to look the way it does, or it it had been a lucky find at a thrift shop, The brown fabric is faded nearly to orange at the collar and elbows. leather soft and buttery from years of wear. There shouldn't be anything attractive about it, and yet Arthur has never wanted to peel an articie of clothing oft someone so much betore, Senseless. Ridiculous.
Perhaps its the eyes. Merlins eyes are alert, that fathomless blue trained on Arthur and gone slightly squinty as if telling him to turn around. Probaby calling him a name too- Merlin tends to do that. the tips of his black hair hang long in his eyelashes and curl slightly at the tip. and Merlin lifts his head sharply to flick them out of the way.
He's obviously out of place among these women, among Arthur in his slacks and button down, and he looks like he doesn't give a single fuck. It stirs Arthur to distraction.
Finally, Arthur races forward again, frowning as he follows their guide out of the room and right down another hallway lined with heavy purple curtains. He's grateful to escape the hazy air: the sweet smell was getting to his head. As they walk, his mind returns to the man behind him, and though he wants to steal another look at his intense eyes, Arthur doesn't.
There's something about Merlin that is difficult to put his finger on. He's cocky, contrary, and looks like a soft breeze might blow him away, but that’s probably just the oversized clothing.
Arthur clearly remembers the grip of Merlin's hand through the portal in his kitchen. the dense feel of an unconscious man in Arthur's arms as he was carried down to the car, Mordred following behind with clothes taken from the flat. The weight of him was solid, sure, unyielding.And I put him in my bed, Arthur thinks, almost deliriously. What on earth could have possessed him? He has a guest room. He has a couch-quite a comfortable one he could honestly say, as last night was not the first time he'd slept on it this week alone.
But it was fine. Arthur flexes his hand as they continue to be led deeper in the building than he has gone before. It was fine, and it wouldn't happen again. There would be no need for Merlin to sleep in his bed. or wake up in it.
Or be in it at all.
The last thought shoots a pang of disappointment through Arthur's stomach. though he can't say why. Like the man himself, it's something he just can't put his finger on.
