The service was private, intimate, and heartbreakingly quiet—held in a small church that could hardly contain the weight of the grief carried in by those who loved him.The pews filled with faces from across the chapters of his life—his parents, his young son, and the two women who had shaped much of his adulthood: Cheryl, his former partner and mother of his child, and Kate, his current girlfriend.
But it was the four men seated together in the second row that drew the heaviest gazes. Harry. Niall. Zayn. Louis. They hadn’t all been in the same room since 2015. Not like this.
At the quiet reception that followed, a fifth seat remained empty at their table. No one touched it. No one dared. Because it wasn’t just Liam they were burying. It was a part of themselves. A part of their youth.

What if this girl watched a boy from district 6, Titus, and came to the stomach churring realization that she would do anything to not be eaten alive?Fear and violence are tools often used by oppressors to ensure compliance. Sometimes it does not work. But sometimes it does.

As the games unfold their unwavering devotion to each other born out of years of friendship is spun into a tale of star-crossed lovers by the Capitol despite the pair seeing each other as siblings. But where the Capitol sees tragic romance, those in the districts simply see a bond unbroken by the games that inspires many to form the beginnings of the rebellion, especially when the pair chooses to ally with young Rue. Back home, Peeta Mellark and Madge Undersee work to care for the Everdeen and Hawthorne families, both driven by their intense feelings for Gale and Katniss, and find they must make a choice about where they stand as rebellion brews within the district.
Told in alternating POVs from Gale in the games and Peeta back in District 12.
