The infinity stones accept his wish, and he is thrown back in time, where he wakes up in his bed in Asgard as his younger self. with the knowledge of future, Loki tries to avoid his mistakes; but his past trauma is getting in the way and Loki struggles with himself and his emotions.
Good thing that Frigga and eventually Thor are there for him.

At those words, Thor felt both horror and relief consume him. Relief that the fall hadn’t killed him, and horror that the fall hadn’t killed him.

Instead of Natasha and Clint, Thor and Loki volunteer to retrieve the soul stone, completely unaware of the fate that would await them. And while the fall may kill a human being right away, the same does not apply for gods.
Thor spends Loki's horrifying last moments holding him.

“I wish you had never come out of the void.” The words came out of his mouth as if he didn't have control over it. His voice was quiet and sad more than angry or hateful because Thor didn't have it in his heart to hate Loki no matter what the latter did. But it would have been better if Loki died in the void, his image wouldn't be tainted in Thor's memory.
