If somebody asked Wind what he thought of Skyloft, he would probably talk their ear off for a solid half hour, then come back ten minutes later for more.
First off, it was in the sky? Just floating there? It was like something straight out of his Grandma’s stories, only bigger and tangible and wow.
He loved it here. It reminded him of home, in some weird way. It was just, well…
A shadow passed overhead, and Wind balled his hands into fists in an effort to keep from flinching.
There was just one integral aspect of Skyloft that he could really do without.

Summary
The unthinkable happened. The Calamity won, and darkness reigned over the land.
Hyrule is shattered, chunks of land ascending into the sky, luckily missing any settlements.
The Sheikah barely have a chance to activate the Shrine of Resurrection before it too ascends.
High up in the clouds above, the long forgotten Loftwings sense new islands ascending into the sky.
Only this time, there's a flickering light of a soul deep inside one of the islands, sealed by something they can't recognise. It makes them curious, so they reach out and feel something unknown connect.
That is, until a new soul emerges from a place full of unknown technology, a blank slate they latch onto.
The Hylians had no way of knowing the old stories of the Loftwing soul bonds were actually true.
Or: Upheaval and Calamity basically happen as the same event. Hylia sends her hero into the skies to keep them safe once more. The Loftwings that remain up above decide Link is their favorite Hylian of all time. They latch onto him immediately, and now Link has a ton of bird friends.

The Spirit Maiden, the Hero, and the Hero's Guardian... All three are part of the Goddess Hylia's plan to rid the world of Demise. After the war that sealed Demise away, Hylia enacted her plan—leading to the three individuals of legend appearing after an unknown period of time.
The Spirit Maiden appeared as Zelda, the daughter of Headmaster Gaepora and Link’s best friend. The Hero appeared as Link—and his older sister, Aria, served as his guardian.
After Zelda was taken, Link and Aria embarked on the beginning of an unforgettable quest, the sword spirits Delis and Fi as their guides. With their aid, Link and Aria ventured from their skyward home—and down to the Surface—to find Zelda and fulfill their role in Hylia's greater plan.

A collection of short, mostly soft fics told from each member of the Chain's POV as they get to know their newest member a bit better throughout their travels.
All leading up to the start of a planned longfic that will not be... as soft, switching gears more toward hurt/comfort, angst, adventure, and found family feels.
(Note: One question I've been asked more than once is if the series/long fic will include TOTK. Having finally finished TOTK, I can confidently say that with a bit of re-working and some small but generous headcanons, I will be including post TOTK content in the MAIN longfic. The short fics have mostly been written pre-release of TOTK, and the plot of TOTK works well enough with the plans I have for the long fic that I can make it work.)
