Natasha steps in front, seconds before Peter’s hands collides with the bag, she’s there. He doesn’t have time to stop up and think. Doesn’t have time to stop the powerful swing, that carries all his strength in it. It hits, perfectly, over Natasha nose. It cracks under his knuckles. His enhanced ears hear it, sees the blood that starts dripping. Natasha doesn’t seem to even notice. “You’ve stopped holding back” she states. It isn’t a question.
Peter shrugs. “I guess”.
“It’s a good thing” Natasha says, holding a water battle out towards Peter, “How the arm?”.
His eyes rest on the bottle. Dark, hate filled eyes. Like somehow, this water bottle, this peace offering, is the problem. Like somehow, this bottle, this one, and only this one, is the cause of everything going on. And maybe, it is. An anomaly in the time, space, continuum. “Fine”.

When May is married to Andrew before Bahrain, they have a secret daughter named Y/N. When May divorces Andrew, the girl is 5 years old and stays with Andrew. May never sees her again until Andrew turns into Lash. When S.H.I.E.L.D is conducting a search of the house, May finds the girl hiding in the attic that no one else knew about. The girl is 16 years old now, and wants to join Shield. She joins knowing that May is her mother, however May is also her SO. Y/N has to navigate around a completely different life but thankfully she has her mother, who loves her and acts very motherly towards her. Still, she has to find a way to accept her moms boyfriend, Phil Coulson aka the Director and has to find a way to accept their daughter, Daisy who is only 8 years older than Y/N. Somehow she also has to navigate her feelings for Daisy, knowing that them being together would be wrong because they are step-siblings and Daisy has a boyfriend.

They’d finally shared details of their plans once the team was all together, lights strung up all over the Lighthouse for New Year’s and the old base so much warmer than it had once been.
May had flown them out here two days later with nothing much more than a I know a place. She’d borrowed a jeep from a hangar whose elder occupants greeted her with startled recognition, tugged the keys from her pocket upon arrival and opened the door for them in silence.
The house had been dusty inside, in almost perfect condition otherwise. It had that quietly melancholy air of a house long since empty, the faint scuffs on the wood polish and memories of warmth that meant it had once been lived in, loved. It wasn’t until Jemma saw the absent way May leaned her hip against a cabinet that wouldn’t shut properly unless you shoved it just right, the way she watched them walk around more than she looked at the house, that it finally clicked.
Or: Jemma and May, and a story for a home and its memories; for lives lost and the still living, and for a different sort of joy than you ever imagined.
