Summary
After Moth Flight's kits are sent to different Clans, it becomes tradition to send apprentice seers to a new Clan, where they finish their training and live for the rest of their lives.
The tradition is said to prevent unnecessary bloodshed and violence, as well as remind seers that their allegiance is to the unity of the Clans, not any individual Clan.
That doesn't make it easy.

Duststar of WindClan and Emberstar of RiverClan were some of the Clans’ earliest leaders, and they helped in the creation of the first rule of the foundational warrior code: Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle. However, recent unprecedented times for StarClan and the five Clans results in changes to the warrior code becoming a reality. Emberstar and Duststar debate about the reasons for these changes while discussing five half-Clan relationships: Cloudberry and Ryewhisker, Eaglestorm and Squirrelwhisker, Fallowtail and Reedfeather, Beechfur and Gorsetail, and Shellfur and Fernstripe.
