Summary
Cleo takes a deep breath, stepping forward and placing her hand on Pearl’s waist.
When she meets her gaze, Cleo’s eyes are black.
“Pearl,” Cleo says, and their voice comes from down a long tunnel. “Look at me.”
All of the thoughts in Pearl’s mind, all the spinning, whirring, never ending fragments, they all stop. It’s a gentle thing, fading slowly into the background until all that is left is Cleo’s voice.
Look at me.
And oh, Pearl is looking. She’s never wanted to look at anything more in her life.

Pearl lets Cleo drink her blood. It has some emotional side effects that neither of them was quite expecting.

Summary
Gem started pulling Pearl towards the centre of the ballroom. "Come dance with me?" she asked, but the words may as well have been a command for how Pearl followed her so readily without argument. The rest of Pearl's entourage silently dropped back as she followed Gem out to where other nobles were still swept up in dance and music.
The song currently playing petered out, a new one starting up to swiftly take its place. Gem was a vibrant spot of colour in this already impossibly bright scene with her orange hair and pink dress. The air was filled with the sound of cheer and revelry, fractals of lights reflected off every smooth surface. And all of it didn't matter in the end, because today was the day that Pearl was going to kill Gem.

Summary
A collection of all the stories in Traveling Thieves, which is my Dark Fantasy, Hybrid Slavery, super angsty AU that spawned from my Whumptober 2023 prompt fills! Currently in semi-chronological order except for the first fic in the series, which will always be “I see the danger, it’s written there in your eyes” which if anyone does want to read the series in chronological order, I’d like them to start there! ^-^ I also occasionally place some stories in specific locations that I think work best for the reading order that aren't exactly where they'd be timeline-wise!

Weaponless, alone in the forest, lost in the forest in fact, with very little idea as to where home actually was considering the forest had somehow changed, and now there were people emerging from the trees around her, swords continuing to clash in the sky, more arrows zipping past her body, one lodging itself in her back and Pearl crying out at that sudden pain, making herself known to those surrounding her, and-
“Hey,” a soft voice said, the world seeming to slow around them, “you’re a human, yes?”
Pearl blinked, just about managing to lift her head and peak at the person in front of her.
Or… not a person, not quite.
Or, in which Pearl accidently wanders into the Fae realm, and quickly finds a reason to stay.
