Summary
“…That gem.” Blue whispered, eyes wide.
In another world Steven had shown it in defiance as he confessed and everyone would have just passed a glance at it before wanting to know how he’d killed a Diamond. In another world Blue was distracted by her grief, her desperation for answers clouding her vision.
In this world Blue Diamond, who had sat in a room filled with bubbled Rose Quartz gems for thousands of years and stared at them until Yellow Diamond arrived to drag her away, noticed something she should have seen before. The gem was too light to be a Rose Quartz. The gem was too clear. It shined too brightly, the light catching it perfectly.
But she remembered a gem similar, a gem that haunted her memories. She saw it when she cried. She knew that gem.
“I know this gem.”

She needed to tell someone. She had to disobey her order. But the words always caught, her hands always covered her mouth when she tried to speak. And Pearl just couldn’t get anyone to understand how important it was they knew. They thought it was grief, that at any moment Pearl could break in front of them. They were probably right, Pearl was going to break if she kept trying. It was insane to keep trying to do something Pearl knew she couldn’t. Defective, even.
No Pearl could disobey her owner’s orders. Homeworld had made sure of that.
But maybe there was a loophole. Maybe she could find a way around the order.
.
She was a failure. She hadn’t been able to protect her Diamond, she hadn’t been able to protect Rose and now she had failed to protect Steven, who had probably been shattered by now. [.] Or maybe he had been discovered. Pearl still wasn’t sure what outcome she was hoping for, because no matter what happened she wouldn’t be able to get him back.
Because if the Diamonds had discovered him, they would never let him go.
The thought made a shiver run down her back, afraid for Steven. Who knew what the Diamonds were doing to him on Homeworld, so far away from his family, friends and his Pearl.
.
“Pearl, go rest.” Garnet was watching Pearl like when she’d taken the knife to the chalkboard in a bout of desperation. Like Pearl was fragile. A failure. But she didn’t know. If Garnet knew, she’d understand Pearl’s urgency. But Pearl obeyed the order and sat down. The order was comforting, because it meant someone knew what to do. That she was helping in some way. And it was wrong because Pearl didn’t have time to rest, she needed to be working on the ship.
.
Why had Rose left her? How could Rose have Pearl given her such a cruel order? How could she do this to her?!
.
Her hands flew to her mouth and she tried to keep talking as she clawed at her hand. Her fingers left trails of dirt across the back of her hand as she tried to remove it. At some point they’d realize that she was trying to tell them something. She just needed to keep trying. She needed to tell them that Steven could still be alive. How many times did Pearl have to trigger the order before someone realized that this wasn’t normal grief? That Pearl was attempting to tell them something important?
[.] She missed her so much. And at the same time, she hated her because this order was cruel. It had never been needed, Pearl would never have betrayed her Diamonds trust. Even as Pearl sobbed she felt the order tightening around her gem so she couldn’t sob out the words when she tried. It controlled the fingers wrapped around her mouth, blocking her attempts at talking.
.

she insisted she didn’t own the Pearl. That the Pearl belonged to no one.
If it had been any other gem, Pearl would pity her. To be without purpose. To live without meaning. Without the joy of assisting her owner. It was horrifying and Pearl couldn’t imagine a worse fate. But this Pearl had taken her rebel thoughts and infected her Diamond with them. Had made her afraid of her own power. Hadn’t taught her anything of proper manners or her place.
No, Pearl did not pity her. In fact, Pearl would be quite happy to see her shattered just to remove her influence from her Diamond. A Pearl with no owner, no true Pearl would be happy with that. Well, Pearl admitted to herself, there were some with less then kind owners. Those who would hurt their Pearls. Damage even. But such actions were punished swiftly and the Pearl removed and regifted to someone more deserving. A Pearl, while made to order, was still a resource that Homeworld offered when it didn’t need to and should not be abused.
Pearl should be grateful they hadn’t done any worse then that. She could teach her Diamond, preferably before Pearl was replaced. Until then she would show her Diamond how a true Pearl acted. Loyal. Obedient. Helpful. Pearl had tried to make her Diamond understand how important she was.
.

“I don’t know! Ro-“ Pearl silenced herself, tears still flowing down her face and through the fingers which she tried to pry away… The movement silenced the words the Pearl kept trying to say.
Peridot was officially an idiot.
An order.
Pearl was fighting an order. She hadn’t noticed before, because Pearl’s didn’t disobey orders. And the Crystal Gem Pearl didn’t have an owner, so who could force an order on her? One so strong that even thousands of years later, it couldn’t be circumvented? And more specifically, what order was so important that it was still silencing Pearl?
[.] if the order was to hide information, then that meant asking Pearl about the order was useless. It was a source of information that was cut off before it even had the chance to be used. Whoever Pearl’s owner was… Peridot wondered if she knew how cruel she had been.

Fluff!!!! Fluff to distract from everything else!!! The concept of Steven becoming more gem-like the more he accepts his gem-half is very interesting. Also Connie being the only one that's allowed to call him "My Diamond" tracks so hard. 10/10

Summary
Two pearls see a ghost and elect to take an unwise risk.
-

Survival, as a pearl, meant knowing what risks to take, and exactly when to take them.
.
Survival, as a pearl, meant being attuned to atmosphere.
Pearls lived and died, quite literally, by the moods of their owners. Failure to provide suitable merriment to a gem in the mood for mirth could prove just as fatal as failing to head off a fit of anger or worse: boredom. It was atmosphere that drove them to this unwise risk today, to dart down these halls when both knew that they shouldn’t. It was something new, but something old too, something half-remembered.
Something they’d both thought long lost.
Survival, as a pearl, meant helping other pearls survive.
They had spoken to each other, alone and away from their owners, perhaps only a dozen times in the last thousand cycles. Nonetheless, they were a team. A partnership of trust, bound together more tightly than any fusion. They had no one else, not anymore. Briefly four, they had become three, and now two.
One would be even lonelier.
.
Survival, as a pearl, meant always appearing at the exact moment of need, never before, never after.
It came with practice, like most any skill. And like most any skill, it could be applied outside of its normal context. The two pearls knew themselves to be very skilled indeed, and revealed themselves at the moment of greatest impact
.
One of the pearls found a moment to feel bad about that. Pearls weren’t the only ones to live in fear. Gems with such obvious defects were worth little more than their own kind. The other pearl didn’t have feelings to spare, not now, not with time precious and answers needed.
Survival, as a pearl, meant daring to draw upon your owner’s authority on those rare occasions when you needed to give yourself a voice.
.
It was her, and she had forgotten how to be a pearl.
Clear hatred, murderous eyes and sneer of disdain not hidden beneath a bowed head and faint smile. The graceful, pleasing walk of an ornament married to the swagger of an elite, dainty steps replaced by sure strides. And such strides, walking alongside real gems as if one of them until reminded it was not her place. And even then, when she fell back to heel, her every line tensed and coiled and promised vengeance, until lost to open curiosity.
And she had colours now. All four of them, shocking and vibrant as her eyes and the bright lustre of her gem. A cocky smile, a weapon and a willingness to use it. But it was, as it had been, as it always, always was, her words that cut deepest.
Two humans as trophies, out from under the noses of two Diamonds. Two companions: an Amethyst and the original Garnet fusion. Beautiful and bold and so very alive.
The two pearls shared a watery smile, and the star at the centre of this lonely system spun upon its axis a few seconds closer to its own death.
One of the pearls, blinking, closed the display and stored it someplace safe, someplace it would be unreachable by any others. The other, sneering, waved away the fears of the quartzes and, when the fears turned to threats, threatened back with diamond hardness. When pressed, uncertainly, for what to do next, one pearl looked to the other, who gave only a single word in reply:
Leave.
Survival, as a pearl, meant never letting on that you knew much more than you should.
They left as they had come, but surer, swifter, more confident. One of them would remove the threat posed by the miserable Agate. Stolen codes would delete the security footage as the Quartzes had been instructed but failed to do. Their tracks would be covered, then, as would hers.
.
Although they had never spoken of it, not aloud, they had both come to think of the presence as her, from when there had been three, and briefly, four. It was just as beloved, just as despised as the memory of her was now. A beacon of hope and despair that had faded, these past millennia, suddenly burning anew.
.
It took but a moment to straighten clothes and hair, and resume the places beside the great door that they had, of course, never abandoned. And when the Diamonds returned, both pearls were overjoyed to bask in the luminescence of such flawless beings again, mourning the loss of Their radiance during even such a brief separation. They were by far the luckiest gems of their pitiful kind, blessed with the opportunity to serve as no other did.
And what a pleasure it was to serve, be it through song or dance or stillness, cleaning or cataloguing or counting. It’s own reward, it was true, it was true. No pearl could want nor wish nor think of anything more.
As they set to heel behind their Diamonds, the two pearls shared no furtive glances, no knowing winks, no secret smiles. Ultimately, of course, survival, as a pearl, meant loving your owner with all that you were, right up until the very moment that you didn’t.

Steven Universe originates from Rebecca Sugar and Cartoon Network.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This series has been placed on hiatus for the near future, mostly. I can't promise that I'll update too much, sorry. My motivation for SU-related things has more or less dried up after Future ended.
I am probably not going to be writing too much for this series for a while - after SUF ended, my interests have just started moving on as well. I am not going to abandon it entirely, but a lot of my writing energy will be applied to other stuff.

Summary
Steven didn't know what was happening. One moment he was on trial and then the next Blue Diamond was cradling him in her hand. And on top of that, they acted almost civil around him. It was really strange, especially considering that they had just been talking about how to kill him.
It was safe to say that this was not going how he envisioned it.
Or, Rose's secret of being Pink Diamond is revealed during the trial and Steven has to deal with the repercussions of that

Summary
"Now I know what your thinking. This thing doesn't look like a Rose Quartz. So in order to prove that this is indeed Rose Quartz, I brought in a gem-identifying robonoid!" Yellow Zircon announced.
The robonoid scanned the hideous creature that was supposedly "Rose Quartz". Yellow Zircon pulled her screen out waiting for the results.
Blue Zircon stood there nervously, clutching her own screens. Once the robonoid revealed that this was indeed Rose Quartz, there wouldn't be much she could do for her. They'd both be shattered, Rose Quartz for shattering Pink Diamond, and herself for not completing her task.
Which was to prove Rose Quartz innocent.
Yep, she's definitely going to be shattered.
Just then, a notification popped up on Yellow Zircon's screen, signaling that the results had come in. Yellow Zircon opened it smugly, already knowing what it would say.
Yellow Zircon opened the message, and almost dropped her screen from shock. She couldn't believe her eyes. This couldn't be possible. The robonoid had to have been broken or tampered with.
But no, the robonoid was not broken, nor had it been tampered with.
That was no Rose Quartz.
That was a Pink Diamond.

Summary
Steven is feeling rather blue about a fight he had with Connie, so he decides to head home for a visit. Unfortunately, a party is being thrown inside his house, and all he can find are drunken gems with big butts, surrounding him in more ways than one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a commissioned work, my first ever, and while it didn't deal with fetishes that I share/specialize in, I thought it turned out pretty well! Commissions are open, and I don't judge no matter what (trust me, I've got no room to do so), so if you've got an idea, I'd love to hear it.
