Summary
A soul is a hardy thing. A lot of people say they're fragile, easy to break, and more glass-like than anything. If that was true, then there was no logical reason why Ren and Martyn would keep finding each other. If that was true, things like death games, dangerous jobs, and even your run of the mill magic accidents that definitely didn't have anything to do with how long you did or didn't stir this potion or that surely would have damaged them. It isn't though, so no matter how many times they wake up somewhere new, there is always something familiar waiting for them. Really, the question is just if they'll figure it out or not.

Tentatively, he spreads his fingers out until his whole palm is pressed against the armor. The magic makes it heavier to hold but comes with a certain kind of spark. Something hard to replicate. He wonders if it somehow feels warm when Ren wears it and feels silly when he finds himself hoping it does.Something other than logic compels him to ask.
“Let me arm you, er, put your armor on you… my king.” He stammers through the proposition.
---Martyn comes up with the idea of helping Ren with his armor. A story told in the yes' and the no's of getting close enough to kill but instead offering more protection.

The fact is, Martyn isn't human. He's always been able to pass as one, excuses and half-truths falling easily from his tongue. But his lack of humanity meant that he's lived a long time, and living a long time means you've seen some things. He's seen how a failed ritual can end up. If Martyn was wrong about Ren's strength, Ren would be subjected to a fate worse than death.
(Martyn is a nature spirit who's gone and gotten himself attached, despite his very best efforts.)

Summary
This is a compilation of all the pieces that take place within my Over-City/Under-City AU, which is also a Hot Guy/Cute Guy Superhero AU, though that's not the only thing that'll be going on! I plan to keep this series in chronological order, so I'll put all the pieces where they'd fall along the timeline, which may sometimes not line up with the publishing date. The exception to this is 'Pretty Boy' which, IF someone does want to read the whole series in order, I'd want them to have read that one first and then all the rest, so 'Pretty Boy' will always be the first fic in the line-up, but after that you could read chronologically or just bounce around as you please! I've written all of these to mostly stand-alone, so you shouldn't be too terribly confused no matter where you decide to start up!

Ren woke up one day, compelled to call himself King, and had been crowned on Hermitcraft with Bdubs, his right hand- no- Kingmaker.
A gimmick that the others easily played into. Until Grians stance against him became to hostile (Scars too, though he held back more)
People got hurt, people apologised, the Hermits moved on.
It didn't feel right to Ren. Like there was something missing. Someone, stood by his side.
He had Bdubs!
But sometimes, for a split second, he saw the silhouette of someone else where Bdubs stood-
Something was missing.
But what?

“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

“Hey, wonder what'd happen if we got Jon to listen to this,” Tim jokes. “Reckon he'd lose his mind?”
There's a faint murmur that Jon’s pretty sure comes from Sasha, but he can't make it out through the door, muffled as it is. The snort that Tim lets out is loud enough for Jon to hear, though, so he could infer.
At Tim’s joking suggestion, Martin delves into a stuttering sequence of mismatched phrases that could mostly just be summed up as “no”. Jon can't help but feel mildly insulted, considering that this was his band, but he supposes that if his assistants expected him to be in a steampunk space pirate band, there was likely no professional respect between them.
