Summary
Merlin goes to see Gaius when Agravaine gives him the dagger to be gifted to Arthur instead of to the armory. He wants reassurance that he matters and that he should stay and not abandon his destiny.
He wasn't expecting to end up kidnapped along with Gaius by the Catha hired by Morgana and Agravaine.
And he certainly wasn't expecting to be taken to the Catha home to be trained by them to become an ambassador for magic to Camelot when it was all over.
Arthur can't let go of the argument he and Merlin had when Agravaine had accused Gaius of keeping secrets. He gathers Gwaine and Leon to keep him in check when he goes to talk to Merlin, only to find their rooms a mess and the pair missing.
After some reflection, he starts to see what Merlin had meant about Agravaine and has him arrested.
He talks with his knights to figure out what he should do next.

King Arthur returned without Merlin and sent search parties to find him. When they came back empty-handed, they chose George to step in and take care of Merlin’s duties as the King’s servants. George was honoured, of course, and would use the chance to show the king how competent he was.
Merlin was found and came home with a strange behaviour. Gwen tried not to take it to heart; the poor man had been through too much. But, as she found out Merlin tried to poison Arthur, she knew something was wrong. Because everyone except Arthur knew how much Merlin loved him.

Merlin is an undercover agent, it seems an afwull lot like the attack was meant for Uther Pendragon, CEO of Pendragon Inc. After some inspecting, Merlin can only come to one conclussion, his son, Arthur Pendragon, has motive and oppurtunity, unfortunatly he has an alibi.
Merlin needs to go undercover in order to prove Arthur did it. What he didn't account for was that he would fall head over heels in love with Arthur. There is only one problem that rests, if Arthur didn't do it, then who did?
A tale about falling in love, hiding who you are, sacrificing everything for your job, and trying to catch a murderer while doing it all. No wonder Merlin is stressed and depressed.

The Druids speak of Emrys as magic itself, the perfect token of vengeance and spoils of war for Arthur to claim. Neither victory nor Emrys are what Arthur expects.
