“You saw Garak? What did he say? What did you say?” Julian pressed.“I mentioned we were working together, that’s all. He didn’t really say anything specific. You just came up, is all.” Miles responded, pinching the bridge of his nose in irritation.
“Okay, but does he miss me? What was his house like? If you were to guess at what he’s doing now, what would you infer? Why were you talking to him in the first place?” He rattled off, pressing him in a way that Miles could barely keep up with, “Did you tell him where we are–”
“Julian, why are you here?” He huffed, cutting him off forcefully.
“What d’you mean, Chief?”
“Why did you come here? To Cardassia.”
“Well… to help you.” He blinked, forcing a laugh.
“You came here for me?”
“Yes – of course. Obviously.” He confirmed, “I came here for you.”
“Sure.” Miles said, looking at him intensely for a moment, struggling to take in a deep breath. For the first time in perhaps their entire friendship Miles did not believe him for a second.

Bashir had done the impossible.
Every Trill grew up with the knowledge that joining was forever. The bond, once formed, was for life. Every joined Trill was secure in the knowledge that all their experiences would be passed on – that they were never truly gone. Those memories would simply be added to the collection, another ring on a growing tree. It was the last comforting thought in Jadzia’s mind before she was attacked.
