    It made her sick, feverish, ill. She woke up one night after the sudden realization and ran to the washroom in fright. It was only the second time in her life she had ever vomited. Nauseous and sweaty, head and heart pounding, she had stared at the old tile on the floor until her feeble mind had an intervention with her bitter, bitter heart.

    Thankfully the only one who chased after her was Enid. If anyone else had shown up they would have ended up with the knife in their chest.

    Ever since Enid was a young girl, she’d always tried to cover-up her imperfections. She’d felt like her scars were illegal. By covering them up, she’d never have to know what others thought of her scars.

    She would never reveal them to the world.

    Wasn’t that what she wanted? For others to not know her past, her feelings about herself. Her true feelings. The ones that she’d buried and covered in layers of confidence, a fabricated personality that just seemed to grow by the day. One that was so different from the broken mess that laid underneath the surface, a person who nobody truly knew because Enid had covered her up.
