    It's ironic to him how the only time that Jason ever means anything to anyone always seems to be when he's nearly dying.

    Maybe that's the point though, maybe no one's meant to care for him. Not when he's not even realistically supposed to be alive.

    Or in which Jason gets abducted, he doesn't expect anyone to rescue him. Especially considering Dick and him aren't on the best of terms at the moment. But when his older brother gets captured while out searching for him, things change.

    And Jason will stop at nothing to ensure the elder's safety. Even if it means risking his own.

Now he's thrown back into a world of bats and birds and struggling to find his place in this world amongst the trauma of his past life and the major differences in this one.

    There’s a new dangerous drug plaguing the streets of Bludhaven and it’s beginning to trickle into Gotham. Similar to opioids, and some deliriants, it has the capability to devastate both cities. But the most perplexing effect of the drug is the risks of detoxing from the drug.
    At first, when Nightwing found reports of dead bodies showing up with trace amounts of the drug in their system, he assumed it was overdoses. But further studies of the drug have found that if those addicted to the drug go too long without taking another dose (around a 12 hour window), their body shuts down, ending with cardiac arrest.
    With the stakes even higher, Nightwing jumps at the opportunity to investigate a tip he’d received about a new shipment coming in. He’d be fine without backup, the Bats in Gotham were busy handling an Arkham breakout and it was just recon. He was fine, that is, until he was caught and dosed with the drug during the ensuing fight.

    Now he needs to figure out how to find a cure, find and stop the main supplier of the drug, all while keeping his new accidental addiction from his nosy family. No biggie right? If only the withdrawals weren’t so fucking crippling.

    Months later, Dick Grayson woke up in a small hospital in Central City, alone, with nothing to his name, and no memory of ever being Robin or Nightwing. 

    With no family and no calling, Dick followed the only lead to his past– Gotham City. And… the Red Hood?

    My need to tell an atrociously-hurt/wonderfully-comfort fic about Jason being a traumatized and dangerous mafia boss, and Dick being a confused, traumatized, and yet wonderfully-powerful crime-boss-in-training. And then make them kiss.  :)
